Barossa Valley is famous to the adults for its variety of wines, but who said kids can’t also enjoy a good holiday in this region? With its amusement parks, wildlife centres, fun filled adventures and great family accommodations, you can plan a perfect getaway with your kids during the school break.

Whether you are just spending few days during the school break or you’re a local, there’s something for you and your kids to enjoy. Here is a list of places and activities that you and your kids can enjoy in Barossa Valley:

Barossa Valley Chocolate Company – who doesn’t love chocolates? Us adults love it, what more if you’re a kid right? So, don’t forget to include Barossa’s famous chocolate store – the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company to your itinerary. From watching chocolatiers make the chocolates from scratch up to enjoying it solely with your kids or with wine (if you prefer), there is definitely plenty of choices in store both for the young and young at hearts!

Barossa Adventure Station in Angaston – if you and your kids are bikers, take your bike or rent one and explore the new outdoor play space at the Barossa Adventure Station in Angaston. There is a 1km bike trail, playground and even a half court for basketball enthusiasts. There’s even a school holiday mountain bike clinic that they offer at Angaston from 16/12/2020 – 20/01/2021 and you might want to check it out for your kids. Once you’re a pro, you can also enjoy the 40km bike trail – the Barossa Trail, which will not only take you through beautiful landscapes and sceneries but also different cellar doors, restaurants and shops.

Kaiser Stuhl Conservation Park – kids nowadays are always on their mobile phones, tablets, computers and the likes, so during this holiday let them enjoy the nature, go to different parks and enjoy the fresh air and open spaces. Kaiser Stuhl Conservation Park is a protected area in the suburb of Flaxman Valley and one of the local’s favorite parks. There are walking trails in this park which passes through different landscapes like rocky outcrops, low forests, creeks and open grassland.  It also a beautiful view across the ranges to the Barossa Valley. And if you’re lucky, you can even see kangaroos, possums and echidnas while you’re here. Kids can run wild (with adult supervision) all they want while adults alike can enjoy the view with a selfie.

Warren Reservoir – after enjoying the grasslands, let’s head to the water and enjoy an afternoon paddling on the Warren Reservoir. You can also bring your bike and enjoy the bike trail, or you can just lay down on the grass and enjoy a quiet picnic while watching the reservoir.

Barossa Farmers Market – meet local growers, makers and food artisans and taste the freshest produce at the Barossa Farmers Market, it’s also not a bad idea to stock up on these local produce for you take home and enjoy during the Christmas or the New Year. There’s also a Christmas Twilight Farmers Market happening at Melrose Street Mount Pleasant on the 23rd of December so you can definitely get your goodies here in time for Christmas and New Year.

Z Wine, Whistler Wines, Pindarie – this is Barossa Valley, the region famous for its wines, so we should not forget the # 1 reason why we’re here, the wines! Ooops, sorry, it’s supposed to be for the kids. Nevertheless, cellar doors like Z Wine, Whistler Wines and Pindarie are kid friendly so while you are enjoying sipping that delicious wine, the kids can dig into their own tasting plate featuring local produce like smoke fritz, ember pizza, fairy breads and the likes. The kids can also enjoy the swing sets and and cubby house at Whistler Wines while munching on their good treats which include juice, crackers and dip, fruit bar, sultanas and lollies!
